The formula for the area of a circle is a product of Pi with a square of the radius of a circle. In mathematical term:

Area of a circle (A)= πr^{2}

Here the symbol **π** is known as Pi. It is a fractional number 22/7 or in decimal it is represented by 3.14 up to 2 digits after decimal. It is a ratio of the circumference and diameter of a circle.

Whereas, A is the area of the circle and r is the radius of a circle. Radius is a distance between a centre of a circle to its arc or boundary. It is half of the diameter of a circle. It is same in all the side from the centre of a circle.

**How to find the area of a circle?**

### Step-1 Measure the Radius of a Circle

The first step in seeking of the area of a circle is to find the radius of a circle. You can measure it by scale for small circles and inch-tap and ropes for a big circle.

It is a distance between the centre of circle to its boundary. You can also find it by dividing a known diameter of circle by 2. It is hard to find a radius of a circle directly, if we don’t know its actual centre. In this case, we can find out its unknown diameter by protector.

### Step 2- Find Square of the Given Radius

After getting the actual figure of a radius, we have to find its square. The square of any number is the product of that number with itself. For example. The square of 2 is 4, 3 is 9 and so on. To find these squares we multiply 2 by itself and 3 by itself, like 2*2= 4 and 3*3=9.

Same procedure we have to do with the radius of a circle. So, to find r^{2}, we have to multiple r with itself. So, r^{2} = r*r.

### Step 3- Multiple the Radius Square with Pi

The last step in how to find the area of a circle is to multiply the radius square with the Pi. This will provide your result and now, you can submit it for correction.

### Step-4 The Area of a Circle by Diameter

You can also find the area of a circle by its diameter. As I told you early that the radius of a circle is half of the diameter. So, we can replace **r** in the formula of the area of a circle by **d** (diameter). Now, your formula will be:

Area of a circle (A)=π(d/2)^{2}

In this step, we have to find the diameter of a circle and convert it into radius by dividing it by 2 and find its square and multiply it by Pi.

### Step 5- How to Find the Area of Circle by Circumference

Circumference is the parameter of a circle or the length of the boundary of a circle. To find the area of a circle by circumference (C) by using a formula: –

A= C^{2}/4π.

Whereas, to find the circumference of a circle, we have to find the product of Pi with diameter or twice of radius. In mathematical terms, **C****=** **2****πr**

In the first step, we need to calculate **C** and then find its square and divide it by 4 and you will get your area to show your teacher.

### Step 6- How to Find the Area of a Circle by Are of Sector

There is another formula to find area of a circle by finding area of a sector. The formula of the area of a sector is **(A)= ****θπr ^{2}**

*here θ is an angle between two radii of a sector. First, we will calculate the area between minor sector and then of major sector and after addition of both major and minor sectors we will get the area of a circle.*

In every question, it will be written that which value of Pi, you have to take or you have to leave the answer in terms of Pi.
