Are you want to find percentage, but don’t know how to find it then have a look at our 5 simple steps to find percentage
Whenever we try to compete with a person in academics or other field, we ask ones percentage. Percentage is one of the most important terms of Mathematics in academics as well as practically. This is the reason that from students to a job person used to learn how to find percentage. Most of the time they find it hard. But, in reality it is as simple as area, perimeter, loss, gain and other operations of Mathematics.
Percentage is a ratio, which has 100 as a second term. To find percentage we divide a given number in 100 parts. In short, it is parts per hundred.
Like other mathematical operations, percentage also have some formula. And the formula of percentage is:
Percentage (P)= (given number*100/total number) %
How to Find Percentage in simple steps.
Step 1- By dividing a part in 100 parts
If we get a number that is multiple of 10, then we can find its percentage easily by dividing the whole term in 100 parts. For example, if we have to find the percentages of boys and girls in a class of 100 students then.
The number of total boys and girls are the actual percentage of girls and boys in class i.e. if there are 40 girls and 60 boys then percentage of boy and girls is 60% and 40%, respectively.
If the given number of chocolate is 50 out of which a boy eats 10 then what will be the percentage of eaten chocolate. To find its percentages, we will have to do a simple thing that how many numbers in a single percentage. In 50, 1 number denotes 2% and 2 number denote 4% and so on. Hence, we have to multiply a number 2 by 10 and be get our percentage that is 20%.
You can also find the percentage of a numbers, which is not the multiple of 10, if you are very good in calculation. Otherwise, you can find the percentage by other methods, which are given below.
Step 2- How to find percentage by using formula
The formula of a percentage is:
Percentage (P)= (given number*100/total number) %
Here, the given number is the number of which we need to find a percentage. Whereas, total number is the numbers, which is taken as the 100%. For example, we have to find percentage of 18 in 100. Here given number is 18 and total number is 100. So, if we put these numbers in our formula we will get 18 %.
Here is a solution. Percentage= 18*100/100= 18%.
Another example, what will be the percentage of 56 in 98. Solution, Percentage of 56 in 98= 56*100/98= 57.14%.
Step 3- How to find Percentage Change on Increasing and Decreasing
To find the percentage increase first we will calculate the Increase in the number. For that we will subtract a new number with original number and we will get the increase in number. Now, for Percentage increase, we have to divide the increase number with original number and then multiply it by 100.
Increase Number = New Number – Original Number
Percentage Increase= (Increase Number * 100/ Original Number) %
For example, if the number of 18 has been increased to 20 now, to find increased %, we will first subtract 20-18= 2. Now, multiply 2*100 and the divide by original number. So, 200/18= 11.11%.
To find Percentage decrease we will do the same step like the Percentage increase the only difference will be in the first step, where we will have to find decrease number instead of increase.
So, first we will find decrease by subtracting original number from new number. Then, we will multiply the decrease with 100 and then divide it by original number to find Percentage decrease.
Decrease Number = Original Number – New Number
Percentage Decrease = (Decrease Number * 100/ Original Number) %
Example- Find the decrease percentage of a company workers, which refused to 45 from 50.
Solution, first, we will find decrease number by subtracting 50 by 45. The decrease number will be 5. Now, to find percentage decrease, divide 5 by 50 and then multiply it by 100. This will give the result of your question.
Percentage Decrease = 5/50 *100= 10%.
Step 4- How to Find Percentage in Decimal
We can find a percentage in a decimal form also. First get the percentage and then divide it with 100. This will give you a percentage in decimal form. For example, we can write 20% in decimal form by dividing it by 100. After dividing 20 by 100, we will get our answer, 0.2.
Step 5- How to Find Percentage from Decimal
It is just the opposite of finding decimal. If we know the percentage of particular number in decimal then we can convert it into percentage by multiplying it with 100. For example, 0.2 is 20%. 0.06 is 6%.
The given 5 steps are very quick and fast to find a percentage of any number. I hope you will find this information useful for you to find percentage.
